Article: September Seasonal Update

September Seasonal Update

As we drift into Autumn, a season of change, it's time to takes stock of what has been, and look forward to what is to come.
The Summer has been great for Kent fruit & veg this year. The soft fruit has matched expectations, with the welcome addition this year of Blueberries from Honeydale Farm near Sidcup. Likewise the salad and Summer veg all arrived as expected although a week or two delay to the first crop due to the dry Spring.
Looking forward September has started strong with early Winter Squash like the Celebration above and Cavolo Nero heralding the arrival of the Kales.
Over the next few weeks we will see more 'Winter Crops' appearing. More Kales, more Winter Squash and more roots like Swede and Parsnips. As we move into November Brussel Sprouts arrive.
Sadly the soft fruit and Salads will disappear too.
Last year the Salads stayed with us right up to the end of October and we managed to get soft fruit in the first week of November. All entirely dependant on the weather so 🤞
